Client Profile and Scenario

Our client has recently opened a state of the art Business Centre located in the West Midlands. Our client offers businesses and local authorities meeting and training rooms for hire.

Solution

Our client had used us in the past for very small jobs, and was always impressed with the service they received. Having run a very successful pharmacy for over 20 years, our client saw a potential new market in the area and decided to invest in there. They converted two old buildings into brand new business centres, offering training and meeting rooms for hire with catering options. We were brought in initially as a consultant, advising the client what AV equipment would be suitable for the centre. Once the equipment was in place, our client also wanted a way to link to two centres together, so that each centre knew which rooms had been booked and what requirements the rooms needed. After discussing a few options with our client, the most effective solution was to create a secure VPN between both the sites.

We also installed a server as part of the solution offered. This was to manage to the user and email accounts, as well as for file storage and backup purposes. We discussed the idea of our VOIP solution, as our client was complaining of the charges from her current supplier. After seeing our solution in action at our own offices, she was impressed with the low charges and feature set of the system and decided that they would like that also.

The sites are connected together over a VPN via two routers. This allows users at both sites to use the booking software independently of each other. The routers used are from a class leading vendor, who is recognised for the strength of the encryption used in their VPN protocols. We have also installed managed public access points, so that users of the business rooms can access the internet wirelessly, so long as their hardware supports it. Training and knowledge bases for the users on the VOIP system has been provided by us, free of charge.
